Deleting a Product

Note: This feature is available only to administrators and to inventory assistants with permission to edit product data.

Delete a product only when you want to permanently and completely remove it from your system. If a product was in use at all, even very briefly, it is highly recommended that you archive it instead to retain a record of the product. Delete only a product that was never in use, such as a product that was added to your system by mistake.

To delete a product:

Starting at the Product Information page (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. Click the EDIT button at the top of the display.

    Note: This button appears only when you are logged in as a) an administrator, or b) an inventory assistant with permission to edit product data.

    The Information Administration page opens, showing the areas of product data you can edit.

  2. In the You can also: area, click Delete.

    A message asks for confirmation. If you click Delete to confirm, the product is deleted.
